n
Let’s talk about who can and cannot make money with eBooks. It’s often assumed that you need to have a lot of special training or knowledge to make money within the eBook industry. Okay, let me tell you the truth. You don’t technically need to have anything more than a digital pulse oximeter and a handful of braincells to make money with eBooks or anything else. The minute I say that something special is needed, someone will point out the one exception that goes against what I say. It’s no use fighting that fight. So let’s be clear, anyone, regardless of skill-level, knowledge, intelligence, IQ, or anything else, can make money as an eBook publisher.

Now let’s look at this question from a more practical standpoint. If you told me that you wanted to travel up the side of a mountain and reach the top, would it surprised you if I suggested you obtain a map? Of course not, that would make a lot of sense. If you want to get somewhere, you need to know how to get there. Some might decide they’ll figure it out as they go. It’s these same people who end up getting stranded along the side of a mountain and dying from dehydration. Likewise, people who jump head-first into the eBook publishing business without really knowing what they’re doing spend a lot of time and money on needlessly agonizing trial-and-error. I should know, that’s the painful approach I had to take to get to where I’m at today. There were no maps when I started. I had to blaze my own trail, and it nearly killed me.

Here’s the bottom line: you really owe it to yourself to obtain some special training and/or a map before you embark on the journey of building and growing your own eBook publishing business. Going it alone with no guidance and without a clear understanding of where you should be going is a recipe for immense frustration, unnecessary expense, and hardship.
